Car wash developed for Norwegian conditions
Car wash developed for Norwegian conditions
The marketplace in Norway had shifted virtually 100% towards the digitalisation of car wash services, and the subscription model was growing steadily. St1 saw the digitalisation of car wash services as a new forward way of running the business, an investment to remain relevant in the future.
Digital services
The solution was installed at all St1 locations, i.e. at over 100 car washes throughout Norway, in collaboration with WashTec and Superoperator back in 2022. Digital car wash enables more efficient use of the car wash facilities. This means that customers can use their flat rate to visit the car wash even when it rains.
The pilot and pre-launch made it easy for the organisation to adapt to this new way of doing business. And they already have several ideas on how to improve further with the support from Superoperator. The system itself has been very stable since installation and the number of users is growing steadily day by day.

Ticking all the boxes in the wish list
“Initially, we were blown away by the opportunities Superoperator was able to offer. We studied the marketplace and competition and talked with several of the service providers we perceived as the best and largest. Superoperator was not only the only service provider to tick all the boxes on our wish list, but also had additional services available for future development on our part. What really set them apart from the rest, was their ability to step up and take a direct role in supporting the development service. In addition, they hastily developed acceptance for the local third-party payment solution provider we required”, says Thomas Danielsen from St1 Norway.
Proven to drive significant growth
Usage and subscription numbers are steadily increasing, driving higher overall utilization. Digital washes are rapidly gaining ground over analog alternatives, and it’s encouraging to see how monthly subscription plans help smooth out seasonal fluctuations and improve yield — particularly during the summer months.
Our partnership with Superoperator is great. It truly feels like a two-way collaboration where both sides benefit and grow. From time to time, I think the response time could be a bit faster – but we’re working on that together. Looking ahead, our plan is to keep developing the business. We have many exciting projects and ideas in the pipeline, and we’re really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.

The usage and subscriptions are growing steadily, along with the utilization rate.
One strong brand
In 2025 St1 is transitioning to a One Brand strategy, consolidating all its retail operations under the St1 brand across the Nordic countries, which translates to a better customer experience.
