Treatment Centers

Author: Thomas Morva

A treatment center is a place where patients can receive treatment for various conditions like alcoholism, substance abuse, drug addictions, psychiatric disorders, eating disorders, sleep disorders, emotional and behavior problems, cancer treatments and many other diseases.

The medical staff at these centers includes therapists who are licensed medical health practitioners, certified addiction professionals, and committed experts who specialize in advanced treatments for diseases. Qualified counselors also form part of the team, as counseling is an important part of care at these centers.

These centers first assess the most appropriate level of care. Treatment plans are then developed to meet the client's specific needs and goals. These plans include three phases: extended care, transitional care and continuing care.

Many of these treatment centers combine a variety of traditional and non-traditional therapies and experiences. Some offer group therapy along with individual therapy. The individual sessions focus on each individuals specific needs, and the therapy prescribed and conducted thereafter varies accordingly. In addition, the staff always remains attentive to each individuals needs and may increase the amount of individual therapy as and when required.

In some cases people have an ongoing disease process, characterized by more than one diagnosis. Dual diagnosis is the procedure required for such patients, and dual therapy has to be applied as well. Each disorder needs to be tackled at a different level. Through effective medication combined with proper nutrition, health education and appropriate psychotherapy and counseling, these treatment centers can treat all types of disorders.

No one wishes to be sick, but in many addictive disorders patients are unable to control their urge. These treatment centers give such people an option of a holistic approach in dealing with their condition, and when they are healed, they are always grateful.
