Dating While Depressed

Author: Justin Meyer

Perhaps the most vulnerable position to put yourself in, when you ask a girl or guy out, you are putting your feelings out there. Something so close to home, you are telling them about how you feel for them, putting yourself out on a limb. There is the potential to be hurt. So how do you do it? How do you take that chance? Its probably easier to not; easier to simply languish without ever telling the person how you feel. Of course, thats not really an answer either, because doing that doesnt help at all.

The best thing to do is to prepare what you want to say ahead of time. Since nervousness can take over at the time, practice a couple of times beforehand and go over the question as well as the small-talk. The more comfortable you are with what you want to say, the easier it will be for you. Plan everything out, your approach, where you plan to take them, as many aspects of the time as you can. The more that you have planned the more self-confident you will be. Visualizing the time will also be helpful, going over it in your head with their answers and how to respond. Visualize them saying yes, as it will help boost your self-confidence.

Finally, when you finally ask the lucky person out, try to stick to the plan as much as possible. You should go through it as you practiced and try to relax. If they say no, it is not the end of the world, but if they say yes, you will be able to start something exciting. Is it worth the risk? Absolutely.
