Many academics, natural disaster consultants and think tanks are discussing the escalating affects of our two to three decade Hurricane Cycle. Some say it is being driven by Global Warming caused by mankind others indicate that it is a normal climate change cycle exacerbating these most recent Hurricanes. Of course whatever the case this 2006 Atlantic Tropical Hurricane Season will be one to reckon with.

For those who live in Florida, they worry of Hurricanes which are Category III or higher, especially if they live along the coast. But what if they live in the center of the state, are they safe? This is a very good question. It would seem that much depends on the size of the storm and its energy.

You can have a small Category III or Cat IV Hurricane, which would dissipate its tight formation once it hits land. Or you could have a Large Cat III like Wilma that hits in an area where the land is flat and wet, with everglades or large lakes. Not much to slow it down. Thus you could be 50 miles from the shoreline and still get pummeled into oblivion if it were a high end Cat IV with considerable size and strong formation as it comes onto shore.

One thing is for sure Florida will get hit with a Category Three or Category Four Hurricane in 2006, perhaps both and maybe even some of each, so the question remains, is there any where in the Great State of Florida which is truly safe from Atlantic Tropical Hurricanes. Consider this in 2006.
