Something for Nothing

Author: Robert Curtis

It never ceases to amaze me how some elements in our society not only want, but expect, something for nothing.

Where did this come from?

Have we, as a society, allowed or even encouraged the mentality that what was once a gift or offering is now considered an expected right? What used to be a charitable and free-will offering is now an expected requirement?

Is it any wonder that so many people are so cynical about charitable offerings or personal charitable service?

There is a socio-implosive epidemic that is running wildly rampant known at gottagimmie. It is a debilitating disease that affects the expectant as well as those closely associated with the expectant. Early symptoms of this disease include laziness, lack of personal motivation, and a self-indulgent sense of equality.

As the disease progresses, the expectant becomes more demanding of things they can not currently afford, such as upgraded housing at a discount rate; improved modes of transportation for free; a higher volume and a better quality of food by producing a free and renewable plastic credit card; higher education preference for free over struggling, paying mainstream students; medical benefits offered in all areas for all reasons at no cost or obligation to them.

After allthese are their rights, right? Freedom to have everything virtually free by virtue of their race, circumstances and legal status, all of which were thrust upon them against their will.

And by all meansheaven forbidwe really can not expect them to work or give any kind of service or compensation for what they receive. That would be positively unfair, discriminatory, and inhuman. After all, they breathe and exist; therefore, they deserve, right?

Have you ever stopped to realize that when someone gets something for nothing, someone else has to do something for nothing?

Think about it.

A good place to start is contacting your elected governmental officials. Professional welfare cases should not be tolerated. When assistance is given, compensation should be negotiated and discussed and must be expected.

We must put an end to the spread of this demoralizing and socio-destructive disease before it totally consumes us all.

It is true that people need a little help from time to time. Goodness knows we can all use a hand of friendship. Its just nice to know that your sacrifice is appreciated, and an attitude of gratitude can go a long way.

Recipients of public assistance can and should be positive contributors to society.
