Coffee: The Most Important Tip

Author: Steven Sarsgaard

Here are a few basic fundamentals that you and anyone you know can use to start making some better coffee around the office or your home.

By fresh coffee beans. Get whole beans whenever possible and make sure you check the freshness date on the package (usually found at the bottom). Only buy enough so that you can finish the beans within a week or two's time frame tops. That way you ensure the beans are at their freshest possible.

When you are ready to brew, first grind the beans and preserve the unused beans in a dark, moisture-free, and cool place. Do not put it in your freezer or it will mess up the beans and make them lose their essential coffee oils.

Make sure you use clean water. Filtered is preferable if possible. Otherwise the mineral and other impurities that may be in tap water will find it's way into the brew. Make sure to use cold water and not stale or hot water.

Serve the coffee immediately after brewing. This is when it tastes the best. Don't leave it sitting there after all your hard work.

Make sure you clean your coffee equipment regularly to preserve the quality of the process. Do this once every few weeks at minimum.

The final step is the most important so listen carefully... Enjoy you coffee!
